Slack Space art auction

The next Slack Space Art Auction is on Sunday 24 July from 6pm!

Slack Space Art Auctions are always an excellent and fun evening out, whether or not you want to bid.

We’ve had well over 100 pieces of art donated by local artists and makers so there’s sure to be something for everyone! Pieces include work in all media, sculpture, ceramics, a fantastic range of back drops and hand-made mosaics.

You can view all the pieces in advance of the auction on our on line catalogue http://www.flickr.com/photos/colchesterslackers/sets/72157627145336242/

If you don’t want to bid turn up anyway! It will be great fun, there’s a fantastic raffle with £500 worth of donated prizes and a paying bar and nibbles throughout the night.

The Medlars and friends will be entertaining us with live music from 9pm!

Slack Space runs these fundraising evenings twice a year. Slack Space is run by volunteers and receives no regular funding. We rely on evenings like this to raise funds to continue our work in and for the community. Please come and support us if you can.

If you would like to bid in the auction but are unable to attend on the night then you can e mail us at colchesterslackers@googlemail.com stating the lot number and your max bid. Alternatively, you can fill out one of the pre bid forms which are available in The Space.

Thur 14 July 7.30 Voices by Metafizz

Have you had unexplained experiences in your life?

Do you believe in a sixth sense, synchronicity?

The Metafizz Theatre Company invites you to explore the supernatural element in our lives.

Is there a source of inner wisdom?

In their new one woman play, ‘VOICES’, Jean Donald and Angela Howard suggest that there may be. Tina listens to her inner voice and changes her life.

An optional, informal discussion follows the play. Our experience is that, with very little prompting, people tell of the most amazing happenings in their lives.

Hindsight’ Wednesday 22 June - Saturday 2 July

A Colchester Institute graphic Media retrospective show for years foundation through two from the BA graphic Media degree scheme

“The work featured in this show is a chance for us to explore the process a Graphic Design student goes through when studying to become a fully developed practitioner. If we avoid the intrinsic process of Hindsight, we would simply be allowing our work to cycle endlessly. Hindsight is a graphic design student’s way to avoid this spiral, a way to exorcise the past through an evaluative and developing future. We hope this show introduces you to this principle and affords you the same enjoyment it does us.”
